Heat turns cooking fat into a polymerised carbon layer that bonds to metal — which is why a wire brush and washing-up liquid get you nowhere, and why you end up scrubbing until your arm aches for a grate that still looks grey.

CleanSlate is an alkaline degreaser built for that specific problem. You spray it on, you let it sit, and you wipe. The chemistry does the work that scrubbing was doing badly.

How it actually works

Two things happen while it dwells on the surface:

Saponification. The alkaline builders react with the fatty acids in cooked-on grease and convert them into a soap — which, unlike the grease, is water-soluble and rinses away.

Surfactant lift. Surfactants cut the surface tension so the solution creeps under the carbon layer and breaks its grip on the metal instead of sitting on top of it.

That's why dwell time matters more than elbow grease. Wear gloves, work in a ventilated space, keep it off your face, and keep it away from children and pets. Rinse any food-contact surface thoroughly and let it dry before cooking. Never mix it with bleach or any other cleaning product. If it gets in your eyes, rinse with water for 15 minutes and get medical advice. Read the label before use — the label directions take precedence over anything on this page.

90-day guarantee

If it doesn't shift what you bought it for, email us within 90 days and we'll refund you.
